Tesla Renames 'Full Self-Driving' to 'Tesla Assisted Driving' in Europe
Tesla has renamed its driver-assistance software in Europe from "Full Self-Driving (Supervised)" to "Tesla Assisted Driving" after Germany's transport ministry objected to the original name. Transport Minister Steffen Bilger called the old branding misleading, and Tesla proposed the change in response. Bilger now plans to push for EU-wide regulatory approval ahead of a vote later this year, and the Netherlands has already approved the system for use.
The rebrand comes as the software continues to face scrutiny: Reuters has reported that Tesla's approval campaign relied on flawed safety research, and the system remains the subject of federal investigations and lawsuits over crashes in the United States.
